Participation information for the Workshop Great Barrier Reef

Information on the Workshop Great Barrier Reef will be published here in due course. The organisation and planning of the workshops depend on the interest and number of participants. Workshop and trip places are limited.

Preliminary plan

Workshop Day 1

What will happen?

Information sessions, creative interactions, talks & discussions and a short survey. 

Who can participate?

Children between 8 - 12 year old (and one of their parents).

Where will it take place?

Bundaberg and/ or Townsville, QLD, Australia. Exact location will be published in due course. 

When will it take place?

In school term 3, between July and September 2025. Exact day, time and duration will be published in due course. 

How can I prepare?

No need to prepare anything. Talking to your child about the topic beforehand would be great, but not necessarily needed. And your child can collect some natural things like shells, broken corals, branches, leaves, stones, etc., but also not needed.

What do I need to bring?

Depending on planning. Information will be published in due course. 
Food and drinks will be provided (also vegan options).

Workshop Day 2

What will happen?

Boat & snorkelling trip, talks at the Reef and a short survey in the end.

Who can participate?

Children & parents who participated in workshop day 1. Parents do not need to come (depending on age of child and number of participants). Possible number of participants will be published in due course. 

Where will it take place?

At the Reef. Meeting location in Bundaberg and/ or Townsville. Exact locations will be published in due course. 

When will it take place?

In school term 3, between July and September 2025, 4 - 5 weeks after workshop day 1. 

How can I prepare?

No need of any preparation. 

What do I need to bring?

Some things like towels, swim wear, etc., but exact information will be published in due course. 
Food and drinks will be provided (also vegan options).
